Rosabelle Illes

#BoCompromiso is a body of four pieces I created for the exhibition entitled "Aruba Linked" held at Atelier '89 on the 14th of October 2012.

'Sit, Rise, Run, Stay' is a joint piece by myself (poetry) together with visual artist Robin de Vogel (photography). The work was created to be included in the exhibition entitled "Rise" held at the Cas di Cultura Aruba from the 6th to the 9th of March 2012.

'Wholism', is an art calendar for the year of 2012. The purpose of this calendar is to challenge the popular interpretations of the Mayan predictions. I took the liberty of asking 12 artists the following question: "If the world were to end, what idea, inspiration or thought would you, as an artist, like to leave behind?"

'Light's License' is a joint piece by myself (poetry) alongside visual artist Robin de Vogel (photography). It was exhibited in the Caribbean Sea Jazz Exhibition held at the Cas di Cultura Aruba on the weekend of 7 and 8th of October 2011.

"Spiel di mi Alma" (Mirror of my Soul), is my second book of poetry. Published in 2010, this bundle contains 21 poems each accompanied by its own illustration. Six young artists have contributed to this project by means of paintings, sketches and photos. Their names are: Laura de Vogel, Chandni Dwarkasing, Hemayel Martina (1990-2011), Jermin Bell, Eva Maria Herdé & Robin de Vogel. After visiting the Saachi Gallery in London, I was inspired to create a "museum-like" feeling in one book. This is also the reason I chose out of the ordinary dimensions for the book.

"Beyond Insanity" is my first collection of poetry. The writings in this book tend to communicate a certain "abnormal" feeling. The term "insanity" aims to express this abnormality. Taken together, I wanted to give the frequency that was tapped into when writing these pieces a name. Still, the term "Beyond Insanity" remains hardly specific.
